If you run a hotel in Nairobi, Mombasa or any town in Kenya with red soil and dusty roads, your carpet is fighting a losing battle every day. The question is not whether you can stop it getting dirty. The question is how you manage it without spending a fortune.
Why hotel carpets in Kenya get dirty so fast
Kenya's red soil and the dust that comes with it is a carpet's worst enemy. Red soil particles are very fine and get embedded deep in carpet fibres quickly. Once embedded, they are nearly impossible to remove with a vacuum alone. The surface looks clean but the soil is sitting in the base of the carpet, making it feel and smell old within months of installation.
The other major problem for Nairobi hotels specifically is that many guests come from construction sites, outdoor events and dusty roads. Their shoes bring in a volume of fine particles that a domestic-grade approach to carpet cleaning cannot handle.
What actually works between professional cleaning visits
- Vacuum high-traffic areas every day, not once a week. The faster you remove loose soil before it embeds, the less deep cleaning you need later.
- Treat stains within 2 hours of them happening. A fresh coffee or food stain takes 2 minutes to treat with Carpet Cleaner Shampoo. A 3-day-old stain might not come out at all.
- Apply Carpet Cleaner Shampoo diluted 1:5 monthly using a scrubbing brush on high-traffic areas such as doorways, corridors and the area in front of the TV.
- Use entrance mats at every door. A good mat captures 80% of the soil before it reaches the carpet.
Cost comparison: Professional carpet cleaning in Nairobi costs between KES 3,000 and KES 8,000 per room per visit. Biozone Carpet Cleaner Shampoo 20L at KES 2,650 treats approximately 400 square metres of carpet. Do the maths for your hotel.

When you do need professional cleaning
Professional cleaning is worth calling in once or twice a year for a full deep extraction clean. The rest of the time, a monthly shampoo treatment with Biozone Carpet Cleaner Shampoo keeps your carpets looking and smelling presentable between those annual deep cleans.
Hotels that combine monthly maintenance cleaning with annual professional extraction report that their carpets last 40% longer before needing replacement. That is a significant saving on a 50-room hotel where each room might have 20 square metres of carpet.
